Sri Lanka is the country that
kickstarted my love of Solo travel early in 2017 and I’ve now been lucky enough to visit the
island nation twice in the past year. On my first journey I fell in love with
the views of the hills and overlooked the southern beaches, on my second trip I remedied
this by spending three weeks doing nothing more than surfing and drinking beer at a surf camp (shameless plug 1). 

Journey 2 also
included a 5 day solo walk along the train tracks in the hill country (shameless plug 2) which was a big difference to just 11 months
earlier where I was mostly afraid to leave the company of others for more than
a day.

Overall Sri Lanka
has been one of the most influential countries for me to travel through and
it’s very high on my ‘countries I would visit three times in two years’ list. Also Sri Lankan street cricket is far superior to Indian.
